ENTRY  REQUIREMENTS

• The candidate must have done Biology and Chemistry at A’level, plus either physics, mathematics, or Food and Nutrition.
• A minimum of a Principal pass in Biology, plus a sudsidiary pass in Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics or Food and Nutrition or a Certificate in a Medical Course from a reputable training institution.
• The candidate must have passed English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or an appropriate science subject at O’level.

NATURE OF PROFESSION

A Medical Clinical Officer practices clinical medicine at the health center and hospital levels, by diagnosing and treating patients with common diseases both in rural and urban areas. He/she refers patients with conditions that cannot be managed at the health facility to Medical Officers. He/she works in the community to treat the sick at home and gives health education to individuals, families and communities; provides schools health services; displays empathy, integrity, respect of persons and human rights; and maintains confidentiality. Upon completion of the course, one can be employed in Government or Non-Government Hospitals and Health Centers, factories, schools

CADRE: Pharmacy Technician

ENTRY  REQUIREMENTS

NATURE OF PROFESSION

A Pharmacy Technician compounds, mixes pharmaceutical preparations and gives out medicines to patients following ethical principles of prescriptions issued to patients by clinicians. Keeps stock of medicines and manages Hospital Pharmacy Unit. He/she displays high degree of empathy, integrity, respect of persons and human Rights; and maintains confidentiality. Upon completion of the course, one can be employed in Government or Non-Government Hospitals, or open up own Drug shop.

CADRE:Manager in Health Care Delivery

ENTRY  REQUIREMENTS

Diploma or degree in a health related profession with a minimum of two years working experience

NATURE OF PROFESSION

A Medical Theatre Assistant is a health practitioner who:

• maintains the theatre environment
• assists surgeons
• provides nursing care to theatre patients
•  Maintains theatre equipment and instruments
• Performs managerial tasks related to medical theatre resources.

A Medical Theatre Assistant is fully responsible for managing the theatre environment and ensuring that theatre technical skills are applied. He/she plays administrative roles including supervision, mentoring and works in collaboration with other health professionals as well as consults with and/or refers to medical specialists as appropriate.

CADRE: medical records assistant

ENTRY  REQUIREMENTS

NATURE OF PROFESSION

An medical records assistant;

• Compile medical data and maintain orderliness of medical records department.
• Ensure proper management of patients’ records and to avail them when needed lawfully.
• Ensure privacy and confidentiality of all medical records and files.
• Ensure interpretation and implementation of government policies on medical records and information services.

• Ordinary Diploma in Anaesthesia with a minimum of two years working experience

NATURE OF PROFESSION

An anesthetic officer is a non- physician specialist who is responsible for providing anesthesia to patients for operations and procedures . he/she has a range of practice which extends beyond anesthesia for surgery to include pain management and intensive care.
